Three ways height can differ

Natural growth, standing appearance, and surgical bone lengthening are different processes.

Natural bone growth

If growth plates are open

Two views, different magnifications

Original 3D cutaway bone-end detail with a warm growth-zone highlight and a smaller whole-bone context view at a different magnification. This conceptual model cannot show whether a person's growth plates are open.Bone-end detailWhole-bone context

Growth zone near a bone end

Growth potential needs clinical assessment; age alone does not establish whether growth plates are open.

Standing appearance

Same body, different posture

The same original featureless adult model shown in two standing postures. Body and limb proportions are unchanged; this is a conceptual pose comparison, not a measured height change.

Adult bone length is unchanged

Posture and shoes can affect stance or apparent height; neither lengthens adult bones.

Surgical bone change

Lengthening a divided bone

Original 3D cutaway of a divided bone supported by an internal nail, with blue new tissue between the separated segments.
New close-up showing distinct upper and lower cut bone ends separated by a space around the nail, with sparse illustrative tissue strands spanning the separation.New bone forms here

Space created by surgery

One internal-nail example, with surgical risks, rehabilitation, and follow-up.

Conceptual models. These are not growth-plate tests, anatomical measurements, or surgical plans. They do not predict eligibility or height gain.
