Definition

Distraction rate is the amount of separation prescribed over a unit of time, usually divided into a rhythm of smaller adjustments. About 1 mm per day is a common historical starting example, not a universal standard. Bone, age, segment, regenerate, joint motion, nerve symptoms, and device behavior can require a different rate or a pause. Only the treating team should change it. [1]
