Definition
A healing or consolidation index expresses a defined treatment interval divided by achieved length, often as days or months per centimeter. Studies may use different start dates and endpoints, and external-fixation index is not automatically the same measure. A lower value can reflect faster progression under that definition, but published values should not be treated as a personal recovery target. [1]
