Definition
The Paley classification is the most widely used framework for reporting complications in limb lengthening. It divides adverse events into three categories: Problems (difficulties that resolve without surgery), Obstacles (difficulties that require an additional surgical procedure), and Complications (conditions that persist at the end of treatment despite intervention). This classification helps standardize how complications are reported across studies and surgical centers.
