An explanation of how the Limb Lengthening Library verifies, categorizes, and displays provider information — including the meaning of verification statuses, the distinction between Level A and Level B evidence, the limitations of verification, and what it does and does not guarantee.
The Limb Lengthening Library includes a Provider Directory that displays structured, factual information about limb lengthening providers worldwide. This page explains how that information is collected, verified, and presented — and critically, what the verification process does and does not mean.
The overarching principle is transparency: every piece of displayed information should be traceable to a source, date-stamped, and presented without editorial judgment about quality or desirability. The directory is an informational index — not a recommendation engine, not an ordered list, and not an endorsement of any provider.
Each provider listing carries one of three verification statuses:
Verified — At least one official public source has been reviewed for the fields displayed in the listing. This means the information shown has been cross-referenced against publicly available documentation (such as a hospital website, regulatory registry, or published paper). It does not mean that the provider has been inspected, audited, or clinically evaluated by this site.
Partially verified — Some fields in the listing have been verified against sources, but others have not yet been confirmed. This may occur when a provider has submitted a questionnaire but some responses have not yet been corroborated by public sources, or when public source information covers some fields but not all.
Unverified — No publishable, source-linked record has been reviewed for the fields shown. The listing may exist as a structural placeholder or may contain provider-submitted information that has not yet been independently confirmed.
The information backing each provider listing is categorized by its source type:
Level A — Official public sources. These include the provider's official website, hospital or clinic registration pages, government or regulatory body listings, peer-reviewed publications by the provider's physicians, and accreditation body records. Level A sources are independently verifiable by anyone.
Level B — Provider questionnaire responses. These are claims submitted directly by the provider or their administrative staff in response to a structured questionnaire. Level B responses are treated as provider-submitted claims, not independently verified facts, unless they are corroborated by Level A sources. Level B information is displayed with a clear indication that it originates from the provider.
Mixed — A combination of Level A and Level B sources. This is the most common status for providers who have both public information and questionnaire responses on file.
Provider listings display only structured, factual fields. These include: display name, location (country and city), website URL, verification status and basis, date stamp ('As of'), regions served, languages offered, whether remote follow-up is stated as available, surgical methods mentioned, devices mentioned, and basic policies (such as deposit requirements and payment methods). All displayed values carry a '(stated)' qualifier to indicate that they represent what the provider or source states, not an independent confirmation of current practice.
This is the most important section of this policy. Verification on this site is strictly documentation-based. It is NOT an on-site inspection or audit of the provider's facility. It is NOT a clinical endorsement of the provider's skill, outcomes, or quality of care. It is NOT an outcome guarantee — verification says nothing about the likelihood of a successful result. It is NOT a safety certification — it does not assess whether a provider meets any particular standard of care. It does NOT replace the due diligence that every patient should perform before choosing a provider, including direct consultation, asking the questions outlined in Questions to Ask, and seeking multiple opinions.
A 'Verified' status means that the factual information displayed has been checked against sources. It does not mean the provider is recommended, preferred, or superior to other providers. An 'Unverified' status does not mean the provider is inadequate — it means the verification process has not yet been completed for that listing.
When a provider is added to the directory, the following steps are taken: Publicly available information is reviewed (official website, published papers, regulatory listings). If available, a structured questionnaire is sent to the provider for completion. Questionnaire responses are compared against public sources where possible. Each source is documented with a URL, source type classification, and access date. The verification status is set based on the completeness and quality of available evidence. All displayed data carries a date stamp indicating when it was last reviewed.
Listings are reviewed periodically. If information changes (for example, a provider moves locations or changes the devices they use), the listing is updated and the date stamp is refreshed. If information cannot be confirmed, the relevant fields are marked accordingly.
The Limb Lengthening Library does not recommend, rank, or endorse any provider. The directory does not accept payment for listings or for favorable positioning. Providers are displayed in a neutral, structured format with identical fields for all listings. The comparison tool allows users to view multiple providers side-by-side using the same standardized fields — it does not highlight or favor any provider.
If you believe any information in a provider listing is inaccurate or outdated, please contact us. Corrections will be reviewed and applied with updated source documentation and date stamps.
